Season Kick-Off – 04JUN25

Since the Maritime Explorers Club (“MEC”) last met on the lake late last Fall, reports and sightings have continued to come in pertaining to the elusive Ole’ Yeller. With Squatch Camp occurring in a few weeks its a sure bet that this elusive beast will also be on hand as the local Scouts scour the area for Ole’ Yeller’s oldest frenemy.

The signal has officially gone out – it’s time to start another season of adventure getting out on the Yellow Creek waters looking for this aquatic beast! Check the station bill (duties assigned to the crew) below and we’ll see you at our season kick-off on 04JUN25.

Maritime Explorers Post

Based on the feedback we’ve received regarding our older participants (that’s youth that completed 8th grade to age 20), we’re changing course slightly for this year.

Instead of offering a Sea Scouts program, we’re tacking towards establishing a Maritime Explorers Post, which Post will be similar in purpose to our Club. That is, the Post would be a special-interest Exploring program that offers young men and women sailing-based adventure and maritime career exploration.

To start the process, click the link below to download and complete the the paperwork and bring it to the FOYC Sailing Base (or fill it out there). For those who are not currently registered with another BSA unit, please be sure to bring $50 (checks should be payable to “Laurel Highlands Council”) for the registration fees (or be sure to fill out the registration assistance application found in the forms).

It’s very important that you come and sign-up in person so we can ensure we have enough Explorers to start the Post. However, we’re all busy so if you can’t make it but still want to be part of the fun send a copy of the application electronically to yellowcreekseascouts@gmail.com to get started!

Adults

We always can use the help from motivated adults who want to help play a role in either of our programs! Click the appropriate link below to download and complete the the paperwork and bring it to the FOYC Sailing Base. For those who are not currently registered with another BSA unit, please be sure to bring $80 (checks should be payable to “Laurel Highlands Council”) for the registration fees.

Can’t make it but still want to be part of the fun? Send a copy of the application electronically to yellowcreekseascouts@gmail.com to get started!

Not Old Enough To Join Us?

Showed up to one of our open programs and disappointed that your child is a too young for the program? Check out the sailing membership at our Chartered Organization, the Friends of Yellow Creek (“FOYC”). This is a family membership that would allow you participate in separate but similar activities as the weekly events that the Explorers will be taking part in during their summer weekly meetings. Plus, its a great way for families to begin learning how to sail together for adults that are interested in learning the ropes!
